Diesel Particulate Filter is a catalytic converter with an oxidation catalyst supported by a porous ceramic structure. The porous ceramic structure traps PM and the oxidation catalyst purifies CO and HC. Trapped PM is oxidized under the high catalyst temperature conditions and filter is purified.
